Obituary of Archie John Hood

Archie John Hood, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday February 27, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Archie was predeceased by his parents Archie H. and Sophie (nee: Krenski) Hood and brother William Hood. He was an estimator for Strippit Company in Akron, NY. Archie served in the United States Navy on USS Whitley from 1956-1960 as a machinist. He was a sports enthusiast who lettered in football, basketball and baseball, he was inducted into the N.T. Football Hall of Fame in 2013 and was Athlete of the Decade from 1950 -1960. Also was a member of the Third Warders Social Club for sixty-six years. Archie is survived by his wife Carol A. (nee: Balduf) Hood, Step-daughter Ann (nee: Balduf) (Martin) Mazurik, grandchildren Joseph, Raymond, Lucas and Grace Mazurik. Sister in law Adrienne (nee: Szymanski) Hood, also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call Sunday March 5, 2017 from 1-4 at Benjamin Memorial Home, 652 Oliver Street North Tonawanda (692-4917). A funeral service will celebrate Archie's life on Monday March 6, 2017 at 11:00AM at Benjamin Memorial Home, 652 Oliver Street. An entombment service will follow at Acacia Park Cemetery North Tonawanda, NY. In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Archie's memory to a charity of your choice.
